Saving Energy in Your Home

Hanging clothes in fresh air to dry.Environmental concerns include energy used for drying clothes. Many of us grew up with clothes waving in the breeze to dry and miss the fresh smell of clean clothes . . . which is impossible to achieve even with the best dryer. (A recent ad on television showed even Martha Stewart hanging out her own clothes to dry on a grassy hillside.)

Air-dried clothes smell fresher, last longer, and cause less strain on the environment than machine dryers.

There are a number of selections of clotheslines for all types of spaces from a rope tied between porch posts or trees to clothesline trees which can be closed when not in use.

For cooler days, indoor drying racks come in all sizes and can be left near an open window so that they not only dry without using energy, they benefit from fresh air.
